It's not Monday again is it?

Wow. It was tough to get going today after having yesterday off. It was like having two Mondays in one week! I was 5 minutes late for duty, Nathan forgot his backpack/homework, and I left my school keys at home! Thank goodness we have Aunt LeeLee across the street to save the day for us!
Nathan had an exciting day at school. The class has been watching two eggs in an incubator and they hatched today. They were the cutest little chicks, Franco and Alex. I was having a crazy day, packed with paperwork and conferences and in the midst of it all, I passed Nathan in the hall with a large ice pack on his head. He said he had fallen backwards out of the swing and landed on his face in the pea gravel. I'm convinced his skull is made of steel!
Jack did not have any big news after school today. They are all excited because the Honey Party is tomorrow. The Honey Party is for kids who have had good behavior all year. I would estimate that about 85% of the kids in the school get to go. Nathan did not get to go 2 years ago and it was very sad...for me and for him. I think that tomorrow's Honey Party will consist of some type of martial arts show. Nathan is not too excited because he said he'd rather be in the show than watch a show.
Carson came home today and announced that he only has 2 more letters to learn and then it will be time for his "gradulations." He's pumped up about it! I hate to break the news to him, but his school is really not having a graduation.
Well, I'm off to bed. Hopefully tomorrow will feel like a Friday instead of a Tuesday!

Rain Rain Go Away!

It rained/stormed ALL night long. The last time I remember looking at the clock it was 3:00am and I was actually thinking about calling in sick...I didn't know how I would ever stay awake at work. Then the phone rang around 6:00, and it was someone letting us know that school was closed today due to flooding. Flooding? I can't remember EVER getting out of school as a child for flooding. We used to have "snow days." This is our second "flood day" of the year. I was so relieved that I could sleep in this morning. The kids were too funny. Around 10:30, I said "isn't it great to have a stay-home day?" And Jack says "you mean it's not Saturday?" They had not given any thought to the fact that we hadn't hopped out of bed and rushed off to school. I said "no Jack, it's Wednesday"...and Nathan says "WOO-HOO RAIN ROCKS", and they went about their business, playing Nintendo. It was really quite a lazy day. I'm glad to have caught up on much needed sleep but I did not get anything done around the house. Oh well, life goes on! The flooding subsided rather quickly and I think most of the damage around town was minor, so I'm thankful for that. I even saw the sun come out for a little while today. I had almost forgotton what it looked like! I hope I see more of it soon...I can't wait for summer. Today was just tease for those lazy days of summer.

Beauty School Dropout...

So I've been thinking for a few days that it's time for the boys to get haircuts. Carson's was getting in his eyes so I decided last night that I would trim his bangs. Here's a picture taken a couple of weeks ago at his birthday party....

You can see it's just about in his eyes. So I trimmed his bangs last night and made the mistake of not putting the scissors away soon enough. I turned around and this is what I saw...

I was so sad. Jack and Nathan look great with short hair....but I like Carson's long. He knew by my reaction that cutting his own hair had not been the best idea. Doesn't he look a little sad in this picture? I tried to trim it all over so that the big gap in the front wouldn't be as noticable. He was afraid that his friends at daycare were going to laugh at his hair. I was really surprised that he felt that way...he's only 5! Anyway, it didn't seem to bother him this morning as we were getting ready for school. I guess I'm lucky that this is our first experience with one our kids cutting their own hair. Everyone keeps telling me that all kids do it at some point. I cut my hair the day before pictures in the 6th grade. I think Carson did a better job than I did! I would be a horrible beautician!

Here goes...

Carson came to me on Friday and said, "Momma, we're going to have a date. I'll wear my mister clothes and you wear your favorite date clothes, and we'll have a date." I thought to myself... I hope I never forget the sweetness and sincerity in his offer.

I've always wanted to keep a journal to jot down our day to day antics, but I have such a hard time keeping up with one...usually one of the boys ends up wanting paper for something and there goes the journal! So, I've started this blog to keep track of all of the little and not so little events of our day to day lives...the things I never never want to forget!

The school year is finally winding down and lately our days are filled with those end of the year type of events. This weekend the boys and I watched the Sheridan High School spring musical, Grease...which of course was directed by Jeremy. The show was wonderful and the boys loved it. All three of them have been singing the songs around the house for the last month. I've referred to them affectionately as "my little Travoltas." Today, Nathan was cracking me up singing "look at me I'm Sandra Dee." Fortunately, they are young enough that they don't understand the suggestive portions of that song...or any of the other songs in Grease.

The next few weeks we will be counting down to the last day of school. I absolutely love having the summer off with Jeremy and the boys. I wish we could live that way year round! When school is out, Carson will be finished with daycare...for good. I always thought I would be so excited when I finally had all three of the boys out of daycare. It is sooooo expensive. But the flip side of that coin is that my babies have all grown into big boys. It's hard. And I'm not as excited as I thought I would be. Don't get me wrong, it will be nice to not have that expense every week. But if I could freeze time right now and have the option of paying daycare forever, just to keep them young, I would do it in a heartbeat.

So, there goes the first blog...hopefully the first of many. I have to admit that this took A LOT longer than I thought it would. I've cleaned two behinds, settled two arguments, ran one tub of bathwater, and cleaned up one cup of spilled milk while trying to type this. But it's done. And hopefully, I've noted a few of the things that I'll be glad to remember one of these days.
